IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR THE 2010 HOME EDUCATION CONFERENCE

Greetings LEAH Members, Conference attendees, and future Homeschoolers!

On behalf of the Board of New York State Loving Education At Home and the LEAH Conference Planning Team, I am pleased to invite you to join us at the 2010 Christian Parenting and Home Education Conference.  Our conference will be held June 3-5 at the beautiful Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, NY.  We are privileged to have speakers Jeff Meyers of Passing The Baton and Norm Wakefield of Spirit of Elijah Ministries, as well as teen track sessions provided by Generations of Virtue.  We are excited to announce a Friday evening concert with national recording artist Andrew Peterson which is provided to each conference attendee at no additional cost.  A concert-only ticket may be purchased at the door on Friday evening for those who only wish to hear Andrew’s music.

During the planning stages of each annual convention, the Convention Team consistently strives to find new ways to improve the efficiency, organization, and stewardship of the convention and its resources, especially as it relates to our attendees.  This year I have implemented a few changes that directly impact you, so let me address them here.

First, registration will be conducted primarily on-line (starting in mid-February) using the convention website at www.leah.orgPlease contact your chapter leader for a conference registration form if you are unable to access the internet.  If you are unable to register via these two methods, you may send a SASE to: NYS LEAH Registration, 123 Stolp Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207 and the paperwork will be mailed to you.  Additionally, pay close attention to the new and revised registration form.  Every consideration is made to keep the registration fee for the entire event as low as possible.  With this in mind, we have streamlined the registration form and simplified the registration process.  This will greatly reduce many of our administrative costs.

Second, starting in 2010, LEAH will no longer be providing name tags to visitors as proof of registration and means of admission.  Instead, each visitor will be issued a low-cost, disposable wristband which will allow admission throughout the entire event.  Wristbands will be issued at the door when you arrive for the event.  Simply ‘check in’ at the registration table bearing the first letter of your last name.  All conference materials will be provided to you at that time.  ‘At-the-door’ registrations will be completed at a separate table.  The wristband you receive will be used for the entire weekend.  NO WRISTBANDS WILL BE MAILED TO YOU.

Change is hard and some time may be needed for these changes to show themselves effective.  It is our hope and prayer that these important changes and adjustments, along with our continuing effort to provide an exemplary conference, will prove to be a better experience for everyone.  If you have any questions regarding the 2010 convention, please don’t hesitate to contact me at UpstateConvention@leah.org.

We are looking forward with great anticipation to see what God will do through this year’s convention theme:  “Tell your children about it; let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.” (Joel 1:3)

Sincerely,

Bob Gorman
